Bitumen storage & processing
Polymer modified bitumen plant
Equipment to produce polymer modified bitumen (PMB) on site instead of buying it ready-made.
Making PMB is a separate process from making asphalt mix. Base bitumen is heated, the polymer is added, a high-shear mill disperses it and the binder matures in stirred tanks before it goes to storage.
If you can buy PMB ready-made, you may only need suitable storage and circulation instead of a modification line. We help you compare the two.
How it works
- 01
Preheating
Base bitumen is heated to processing temperature.
- 02
Polymer dosing
Polymer is weighed and added.
- 03
Shearing
A colloid mill disperses the polymer through the binder.
- 04
Maturing and storage
Stirred tanks hold the binder until it is ready for use.
Common configurations
Batch unit
Produces one batch at a time.
Continuous unit
For steady, higher demand.
Mill + maturing tanks
Skid-mounted for transport.

Questions
Is a PMB plant part of the asphalt plant?
No. It is optional equipment for producing the binder. The asphalt plant only needs a tank and pump suitable for PMB if you buy it ready-made.
