Burners and fuel supply

Burners matched to the fuel you can buy on site, with the storage, pumps and safety interlocks they need.

Fuel is one of the largest running costs of an asphalt plant, and what you can buy locally decides the burner. HMAMIX burners run on heavy oil, natural gas or coal powder.

A burner’s rated power does not by itself tell you the plant’s output or emissions — those depend on aggregate moisture, fuel quality and the drum. We size the burner from your drying load and supply the fuel system around it.

How it works

  1. 01

    Fuel preparation

Heavy oil is heated and filtered; gas is reduced to the right pressure; coal powder is stored and metered.

  2. 02

    Air and fuel control

Combustion air and fuel are adjusted together as the load changes.

  3. 03

    Ignition

Purge, ignition and flame check run in a fixed sequence.

  4. 04

    Flame and temperature feedback

Flame detection and aggregate temperature control the firing rate.

  5. 05

    Safe shutdown

Loss of flame or fuel pressure closes the fuel valves automatically.

Common configurations

  • Oil burner

For heavy oil, with fuel heating and filtering.

  • Gas burner

For natural gas, with pressure regulating train.

  • Dual-fuel burner

Switches between two fuels when supply or price changes.

  • Coal powder system

Silo, metering and blower for powdered coal.

Tell us before we quote

  • Fuel type and, if possible, a fuel analysis
  • Gas supply pressure or oil delivery method
  • Expected aggregate moisture and output
  • Local rules for fuel storage

Check before ordering

  • Complete interlock: purge, ignition, flame detection, emergency shut-off
  • Distance between fuel storage and hot equipment
  • Who builds the fuel tank foundation and gas connection
  • Separate quotes for oil and gas options — interfaces differ

Questions

Which fuels can HMAMIX burners use?

Heavy oil, natural gas and coal powder. Tell us the fuel available at your site and we configure the burner and fuel supply for it.

Can I change fuel later?

A dual-fuel burner allows it from the start. Converting a single-fuel burner later means changing the fuel train and controls, so plan it before ordering if you expect gas to arrive.
